Pray

Hi, The other day, I was wondering, what is the most powerful thing we can do?

I think there are a lot of different answers, but the real answer to that question is we can pray.

So why do we find it so difficult to pray? It is because, our enemy, the devil, does not want us to pray. The devil knows, once we find out what a powerful thing prayer is, we become more powerful than the devil, because we can ask God for what we need. The Bible says when one person gets on their knees to pray, the whole of hell will shake.

Jesus knew just how powerful prayer is. Jesus taught his followers how to pray, with the Lord’s Prayer, in Matthew 6. This, then, is how you should pray:

Our Father in heaven,

Hallowed be your name,

Your kingdom come, Your will be done,

On earth as it is in heaven,

Give us today our daily bread,

Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors,

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil,

For yours is the kingdom,

The power and the glory,

Forever, and ever,

Amen.

 

Jesus said; For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.  But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

By teaching his followers; how to pray; Jesus was saying to us; you will need to pray all the time; he does not mean; praying out loud; but he would like us to do that sometimes: I feel a challenge coming on; but more about that; in a minute or two.

Jesus himself quite often took himself away to a quiet place to pray. Now, if Jesus felt like he needed to pray to his heavenly father often, then how much more do we need to pray?

Jesus also said; it is better we go to a quiet place to pray in secret, but we should go to the Throne Room to pray, with boldness. Now, do you remember when you were a kid, were you the kind of kid who kept on asking your parents the same questions? Your parents would answer, no, or wait, to your questions. So you kept on at them until you got the answer you wanted. Well God wants that attitude from his kids, the don’t give up attitude. God wants us to keep asking him until the answer is yes.

I promise, when God promises you God will fulfil every promise, but only when it is the right time. Because God can see the full picture, where as we can only see the small picture around ourselves. 

Also by praying we get to know the father heart of God, but only the things that God wants us to know about. God knows that if he told us everything about our life it will probably kill us because it would be too much for our small brains. God wants us to live our life day by day. It is good to let Jesus lead us through life, because he knows what he is doing. But we do not like to put Jesus in the drivers seat of our life. We want to be fully in control of our own life but we make a mess, God wants to lead us step by step. So, Jesus shines a little light, to brighten up the path a little way in front of us. God wants us to have a quiet time, everyday, so we can get to know God. 

I will let you into a secret, I did not know what a quiet time was until a few years ago. I thought a quiet time was when you went to a room to be quiet for a period of time. But it is not that at all, a quiet time is when we talk to God and we learn about God and Jesus everyday. How do we learn? Well, by reading our Bible. That reminds me of the song read your Bible and pray everyday if you want to grow.

Now, for that challenge. Just pray one prayer aloud today, it could be a sentence prayer, say thank you God for something, then, finish that sentence off.
